LMS

Learning Management System

A platform that manages course assignment, tracking, certification and reporting from a single hub. It is the backbone of an organization's learning operations.

LXP

Learning Experience Platform

An experience layer where employees discover content and get recommendations based on their interests and skill gaps. It complements an LMS rather than replacing it.

SCORM

Sharable Content Object Reference Model

A standard that lets e-learning content run across different platforms. It guarantees content portability.

xAPI

Experience API (Tin Can)

A modern data standard that tracks learning experiences outside the platform. It enables the detailed behavior tracking that SCORM cannot.

SSO

Single Sign-On

Lets users access multiple systems with one password using their corporate identity. It strengthens security and removes a usage barrier.

HRIS

Human Resources Information System

The system that stores employee, organizational and role data. When integrated with the LMS, user management becomes automated.

Microlearning

Short, focused learning

A content format focused on a single learning objective, usually 3-10 minutes long. It delivers knowledge without interrupting the workflow.

Blended Learning

Mixed online and classroom training

Combining digital content with face-to-face or live training within the same program.

Gamification

Game mechanics in learning

Adding game elements such as points, badges, levels and leaderboards to the learning experience. When used correctly, it increases engagement.

Skill Gap

The difference between current and required skills

The difference between an employee's current competency level and the level their role requires. It is the starting point for development planning.

Competency Framework

Skills map for roles

A framework that defines the competencies and levels required for each role. It makes development measurable.

Learning Path

Structured sequence of content

A set of content and activities sequenced to reach a goal. Unlike a single course, it carries a progress logic.

Extended Enterprise

Training for external audiences

Training for groups outside the organization, such as resellers, partners and customers. It extends brand standards across the ecosystem.

Authoring Tool

Software for creating e-learning content

Software used to produce e-learning content. It enables interactive content creation without requiring coding knowledge.

Completion Rate

Percentage of users who finish assigned training

The percentage of users who complete the training assigned to them. It is not a success metric on its own; it should be read together with engagement and impact.

Virtual Classroom

Instructor-led live online sessions

Live sessions led by an instructor and delivered online. The platform connects via Teams, Zoom or Meet.
